Legal/Judicial Experience: Court of Appeals judge, appointed 2016. Private practice emphasizing environmental law, civil rights, and public records litigation for 25 years, including issues of environmental policy, land use, shoreline management, landslides, and chemical exposure. Helped protect Maury Island Marine Reserve from a proposed barge terminal. Successfully argued a landmark Freedom of Information Act case before U.S. Supreme Court.

Statement: Judge David Mann was appointed by Governor Inslee to the Court of Appeals in July 2016.
Following a career as a geophysicist, Judge Mann earned a law degree 25 years ago and began a successful practice as an environmental lawyer. His skill and depth of knowledge, as well as his commitment to our Northwest values, benefited citizens’ groups, tribes, and individual property owners across the state. He argued significant cases before state and Federal courts, including a successful appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court -- a landmark victory for all citizens seeking transparency in government.
Judge Mann has proven himself to be a balanced and hard-working member of the judiciary. He is endorsed by all nine of our Supreme Court justices and nearly sixty other judges statewide.
