2016 Primary Voters' Guide
Congressional District 4 - U.S. Representative

Coming Soon
Doug McKinley
(Prefers Democratic Party)

Elected Experience: I have never held elective office because I am not a professional politician.

Other Professional Experience: I have been an attorney for 25 years, representing everyone from ordinary people needing help with small matters to the largest employers in Central Washington, litigating on their behalf in the Federal courts. For 25 years, I have also taught business law and corporate finance at Washington State University, Tri-Cities.

Education: Bachelor of Science, University of Utah, 1987;  Masters of Business Administration, University of Utah, 1989;  Juris Doctorate, Willamette University, 1991.

Community Service: 14 years Board Member, City of Richland, Board of Adjustment.

Statement: For the past forty years the United States has seen a vast concentration of wealth into the hands of a very small portion of the population. The richest 16,000 families now control more wealth than the bottom two thirds of the American public. This concentration of wealth and power is the direct result of so-called "free market" policies adopted by our government at the behest of a small clique of ultra wealthy individuals who have used their wealth to finance elections, corrupting our political system in the process.

Raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour, raising tax rates on billionaires, and making college more affordable are all common sense solutions that would help rebuild a vibrant, economically prosperous middle class. Unfortunately, my opponent offers only the standard billionaire bromides: tax cuts for the rich, the same education policies that have left an entire generation mired in student loan debt, and no help raising the wages of working people. That is why we need a change.

My opponent has also endorsed Donald Trump, a man who promises to deport tens of thousands of workers from Central Washington. Tearing apart thousands of Latino families whose children are US citizens would be a humanitarian disaster of unimaginable proportions. Ignoring the fact that it would also bankrupt our agricultural sector, to even propose such a hateful, misguided and bigoted policy should disqualify them both from elective office.

I am running because we need comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for thousands of hard working, tax paying, law abiding immigrants and their families.

I am running because the concentration of wealth and power is a threat to the United States of America and must be stopped.

Please support me with your vote for a better, more prosperous America.
