Legislative leader for increasing education funding, early learning, and college student financial aid; expanding health care; protecting the right to organize for workers; creating the largest state investments in public works; working towards clean electricity; and more.
Statement: As Representative for our District and as Speaker of the House, I enacted a positive agenda for education, healthcare, and social justice.
Invested billions in new funding for basic education; expanded early learning; created our Apple Health program providing care for 1.6 million people; enacted equal pay for women legislation and paid family leave; reformed and expanded funding for mental health; closed tax loopholes on Wall Street banks; expanded student financial aid with State Need Grants, College Bound and Opportunity Scholarships; provided major funding for public transit; and surpassed $1 billion for workforce and low income housing.
